The European Research Council (ERC) announced, on 4 September 2025, the list of 478 early-career researchers across Europe to receive this year’s Starting Grants. With a total funding of €761 million, these grants support excellent research across diverse fields, including physical sciences and engineering, life sciences, and social sciences and humanities. The backing will help researchers at the beginning of their careers to launch their own projects, build research teams and pursue their most promising ideas.
The list of ERC Starting Grant grant winners for 2025 includes Greek researchers Mr. Dimitrios Ntalampekos (Assistant Professor at the Department of Mathematics of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki).
You may find more info on the call’s results and the full list of winners here.
A Starting Grant amounts to €1.5 million for a period of up to five years. However, additional funds can be made available to cover costs related to moving from a country outside the EU or associated countries, purchasing major equipment or the access to large facilities, or major experimental and fieldwork-related costs.
For 2026 over €2.7 billion in ERC funding will be available.
